SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Ronald D. Caulin, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born December 14, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William and Edna (McManus) Caulin.

After graduation from high school, Ronald proudly served his country as a Lance Corporal United States Marine Corps from 1952-1955.

On February 23, 1957, Ronald married Eileen Kasold in Lynbrook, NY. He was employed as a marketing representative at the National Grange Mutual Insurance Company and the at the Hartford Insurance Company until his retirement in 1992.

Ronald was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls where he also served as a past President of the Parish Council, a Eucharistic Minister, and as a lector. He was also a past President of the St. Mary’s Homeschool Association.

Ron loved to ski and was an alpine ski instructor at West Mountain as well as an adaptive ski instructor at the Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch. He also coached Pop Warner football in South Glens Falls.

In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lindsay Clayton, a son-in-law, Jeffrey Madretzke, and a sister, June Conklin.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Eileen Caulin, his children; Jacqueline Clayton and her husband Barry, and Michelle Madretzke, his grandchildren; Brandon and Jordan Clayton, and Meghan and Meredith Madretzke, his brothers; William Caulin and his wife Eileen, and Michael Caulin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 10-11 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, NY. A Memorial Mass will follow calling hours at the church.

Rite of Committal will be conducted at 2pm following Mass at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville,NY.

Memorial donations in Ron’s name can be made to the American SIDS Institute, 528 Raven Way, Naples, Florida 34110.
