Donald “Jake” Corriveau, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Slate Valley Center for Rehabilitation in Granville.

Born in Fort Edward on August 20, 1933 he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Hopkins) Corriveau.

Jake graduated from Fort Edward High School class of 1951 where he played baseball, track and football.

After high school, Jake proudly joined the United States Navy on November 1, 1951 until October 25, 1955; he was a pipefitter apprentice on the USS Fulton. Jake received the national defense service medal and good conduct medal.

On March 1, 1958 Jake married Marcia Wallace in Yorktown, VA and spent 60 years in a loving and affectionate relationship.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward for 84 years, altar boy and member of the church choir for 47 years. He also maintained the heat for the church.

Jake worked for Ciba Geigy where he was a pipe fitter and maintenance foreman for many years. Jake was a Fort Edward Building Inspector and worked for Washington County code enforcement.

His passions in life include music, golfing, the outdoors, fishing & flower gardens. He also was an avid bowler, Boy Scout leader, little league ump and was and a regular performer in Fort Edward Minstrel shows. Further, he marched with the Fort Edward Vagabonds Drums and Bugle Corp and was a member of K of C & Tee Bird Country Club.

In addition to his parents, Jake was predeceased by his sister, Joan Varney; brother, Joseph Corriveau; daughter, Judy Benjamin; grandson, Jacksene Corriveau.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marica (Wallace) Corriveau of Fort Edward; children, Nancy Duell and her husband Patrick of Glens Falls, James Corriveau and his wife Beth of Warrensburg, Carolyn Tidd and her husband Jeffrey of Fort Valley, VA, Robin Godfrey and her husband Christopher of Fort Ann, Susan Weisman and her husband Mark of Charlton; son-in-law, Michael Benjamin and his wife Janice of Glens Falls; sister, Peggy Smith of Tennessee; along with 21 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10am on Friday, June 1, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.
Rite of Committal will follow the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
