Obituary for Victoria Delaware (Jacobs)

Victoria Delaware (Jacobs)
Queensbury

Victoria (Jacobs) Delaware, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born August 29, 1940 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Egia (George) Jacobs.

Vicky was a 1957 graduate of Queensbury High School. She later attended Hudson Valley Community College. On May 6, 1962, Vicky married William M. Delaware at St. George Orthodox Church in South Glens Falls, where she was a lifelong communicant and served as Secretary of the Ladies Society, member of the choir and taught Sunday school in earlier years.

Vicky resided in Loudonville for 33 years and was employed by the New York State Department of Civil Service for 22 years, retiring in 2002 as an Administrative Assistant. Upon retirement,
Vicky and Bill relocated to Queensbury. For many years Victoria was a member and volunteer of the Queensbury Senior Center.

Vicky was a voracious reader who also enjoyed crossword puzzles, fine dining, travel to Maine and the companionship of her feline friends throughout the years. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister and loyal friend who will be remembered for her wit, wisdom and warmth.

In addition to her parents, Victoria is predeceased by her sisters, Mary Johns, Martha Walsh and Helen Parker.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 55 years, William; her beloved daughter, Beth Anne Bishop and her husband Bill, of Queensbury; her brother, George Jacobs (Patricia), of Glens Falls, her sisters, Anna Cottrell of Queensbury, Barbara (Allen) Crotty, of Queensbury, and Beatrice Salem of Hudson Falls.

She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews, including Patricia Zacharias (Kenneth), Mary Salem (Kevin Godfrey) and Karen Nassivera (Frank); all of Queensbury.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center of the Glens Falls Hospital including Dr. Darci Gaiotti-Grubbs and Nikole Delair, PA, for their compassion and care throughout Vicky’s illness, as well as High Peaks Hospice for all their support.

Family and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, January 26, 2018 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St. So. Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. George Orthodox Church, 55 Main St. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
