Obituary for Frances Clift (Wilder)

Frances Clift (Wilder)
Argyle
Frances Lillian (Wilder) Clift, 71, of St. Rt. 40, our beloved mother, wife and friend passed away peacefully at the Saratoga Hospital on Wednesday February 15, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Brattleboro, VT, on October 26, 1945, she was the daughter of the late, Ernest L. Wilder and Emma M. (Truhart) Mohan.

As a child, Fran attended Argyle Central School and later graduated from Queensbury High School.

She was a longtime member of the Argyle United Methodist Church and participated in the United Methodist Women’s group. She also enjoyed attending United Methodist dinner gatherings and was a member of the Old Saratoga Seniors with her husband.

On August 22, 1964, Fran married the love of her life, Howard A. Clift in West Glens Falls and the two spent 52 loving years together.

Throughout the years Fran held jobs at Ames, Grand Union, Fitzgerald Bro’s and lastly retired from Home Instead in Saratoga, where she worked as a caregiver.

She enjoyed cooking for others, especially birthday dinners for her children and husband. She loved family, friends, bingo and casinos. She loved to sit on the front porch with her husband, spending time with her cat, Spunky and Sunday night dinners with Art and Cathy. Fran enjoyed visiting friends and family, going to lunch with the girls, garage sales and shopping trips with her daughter.

In addition to her father, Fran is predeceased by her sister, Doris Taylor and her husband, Raymond Taylor Sr.; her step father, Albert Mohan; her mother and father in law, Marjorie and Chester Clift; and two brothers in law, William Duley and Frank Chiarella.

Left to cherish her memory besides her husband and mother are her son, Arthur Clift and his wife, Cathy; her daughter, Denise Porter and her husband, Lee; her grandchildren, Samantha Clift, Colton Clift and Justin Porter; her brothers, Gerald Wilder and his wife, Connie and Ernest Wilder and his wife, Susan; her sister, Donna Rothstein and her husband, Ricky; her sisters in law, Verna Duley and Dorothy Chiarella; her special friend, Marge Madsen; as well as many special nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Friends are invited to call from 3-5 pm on Saturday February 18, 2017 at the Argyle United Methodist Church, Sheridan St., Argyle. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St. Argyle, NY 12809.

A funeral service will be conducted at 5pm following calling hours with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl, pastor, officiating. Following the service everyone is invited to attend bereavement in Sheridan Hall at the church.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle, at the convenience of the family in the spring.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Nurses, Dr.’s and Staff at Glens Falls Hospital, Saratoga Hospital and Fort Hudson Nursing Home for their compassion and care in this difficult time.
