Obituary for Eleanor C. Tidd (Maier)

Eleanor C. (Maier) Tidd, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born May 15, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late William Maier and Eleanor (Bain) Maier Altizio.

Eleanor was employed as a registered nurse at the Glens Falls Hospital for many years.

She married Theodore Tidd and together they raised their family in Fort Edward. Eleanor was an animal lover and often took in strays of all kinds. She also loved sewing and knitting and made many homemade sweaters, hats, mittens and other gifts over the years for her children and grandchildren. She could often be found attending their various sporting events and enjoying spending time with all of her family.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor is also predeceased by her step-father John Altizio, her sister Fannie Miller, and her beloved dog Sam.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Ted Tidd, her children; Colleen Maziejka (Keith), Jeffrey Tidd (Carolyn), and Cindy Horvath (Zoltan), her grandchildren; Erica Maziejka (Ed Russo), Elizabeth Stevens (Scott), Josh Maziejka, Sarah Addi (Andefenci), Jeremy Tidd (Jenn DePalma), Sabina Murphy (Sean), Nicole Holden (Lee), and Zachary Horvath, her great-grandchildren; Hunter Russo, Donatello Tidd, Asher Murphy, Piper Murphy, and soon to make an appearance, Osheaga Addi, her sister Izora “Chuckie” Paige (Hollis), her brother-in-law John “Jackie” Miller, as well as many sisters and brothers-in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. At Eleanor’s request calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Rite of Committal will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eleanor’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern NY, Pine West Plaza, Building 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave Ext., Albany NY 12205.
