Obituary for Edith D. Baltzersen

Edith Baltzersen, 99, passed away Wednesday November 28, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Brooklyn on August 23, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Olaf and Carrie (Halversen) Berge.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingston.

Edith retired from Montessori School in Long Island as a teachers aid after 15 years of service.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, gardening, hummingbirds, cardinals and especially spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband, Edward Baltzersen; sisters, Olive and Eleanor.

Left to cherish Edith’s memory include her children, Edward Baltersen (Judy) of Florida, Richard Baltersen of Farmingdale and William Baltzersen (Judy) of Indiana, Doris Wissert (Robert) of Port Jefferson St., Nancy Crotty of South Glens Falls; her brother, Burton Berge of Poughkeepsie; along with 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Edith’s request there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Stoneridge.

Donations in Edith’s Memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Edith’s aids Renee Baker and Connie Blackmer for the special care and compassion. They would also like to thank Glen Anderson from Homeward Bound for his tremendous care.
