Obituary for Cheryl Marie Durkee

Argyle

Cheryl Marie Durkee, 71, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at her home.

Born on October 19, 1947, in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Mildred (Wood) Ethier.

Cheryl was a 1967 graduate from Schuylerville Central High School.

She was a member of the Old Saratoga Reformed Church.

Cheryl worked as an LPN at Glens Falls Hospital Pediatric Unit from 1967-1970. Once her children were born, she became a stay at home Mom until they were old enough to go to school. She then worked as a Dietary Aide and was later promoted to Cook at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle, retiring in 2007.

On October 18, 1970, Cheryl married Crosby A. Durkee.

Cheryl enjoyed cooking, sewing, birdwatching, BINGO and going to the Washington County Fair. She loved watching her grandchildren show their animals and win blue ribbons in competitions. Cheryl also enjoyed visiting her sister and her family in Florida. While she was there, she enjoyed eating out and walking on the beach with her husband. Her grandchildren were her delight and loved to make her laugh.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her brother, Derek Gagnon.

Left to cherish her memory includes her husband of 48 years, Crosby; her children, Stacy Tyler and her husband, Jared of Hartford, Jason Durkee and his wife, Beth of Argyle, Chad Durkee and his wife, Mandy of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Bethany, Britany, Briann, Brynn Tyler, Aubrie and Dustin Durkee; her siblings, Sharlene Albert of Saratoga Springs, Scott Ethier and his wife, Mary of Schuylerville, Deborah Dodson and her husband, Richard of Plantation, FL, Roseann Harrison of Greensboro, NC, Lisa D. Ethier Lewis and her husband, Mark of NC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Cheryl’s request there will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Old Saratoga Reformed Church, 48 Pearl St, Schuylerville, NY 12871.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
