Robert J. Sweet, 65, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born November 9, 1952 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Mary (Myers) Sweet.

Robert graduated from South Glens Falls High School. He was employed by NibCo until his retirement in 1989. Robert was a skilled carpenter and after his retirement, he started his own construction business in South Glens Falls. He also did snowplowing and property maintenance.

Robert was an incredibly generous man and was always lending a hand to anyone in need, even when there was no way they could ever return the favor to him. He would give the shirt off his back with no questions asked. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brother Randy Sweet and his sister Judy McDonald.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Robert Sweet Jr. and his wife Peg and Amanda L. Scally and her husband James, his grandchildren; Logan, Robert III, Raeann, and Raymond, his brothers; James Sweet and his wife Debbie, and Larry Sweet and his wife Dee, and a close family friend Tammy Whitt.

Friends may call from 4-6pm on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 6pm following calling hours with Rev. Paul Mead from the Gospel Lighthouse Church officiating.

Burial will take place at 9am on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Griswold Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Memorial donations in Robert’s name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
