Perley LaValley

Mark Romani

To the family and friends of Perley LaValley: I met Perley at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center when I worked at the front desk. While in that position, I interacted with Perley on a daily basis. He was an accomplished artist who often showed me his artwork, and sometimes offered to sell it. He also decorated, and sold, t-shirts. As mentioned in his obituary, Perley loved to be outdoors and liked to stay busy. He was a hard working man who weeded the front garden and sidewalk area. I and others commended him for his good work and he gleamed with pride. Part of my duties were to oversee resident cash funds; Perley always asked me if he could have a few dollars to get a few things he needed – it might be candy or art supplies (markers). I only work a few hours upon occasion now; but every time Perley sees me he asks about getting a few dollars – he did so just last week. The writer of his obituary summed up my feeling about Perley very well: “Perley will be remembered for his selfless nature and his giving spirit. His kindhearted personality would light up the room and he always put others before himself.” I know that I and my Rosewood colleagues will miss him. Sincerely, Mark Steven Romani
