Perley L. LaValley, 63, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Troy, NY after a short battle with cancer.

Born July 8, 1955, in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Perley L. and Katherine (Forcier) LaValley.

Perley graduated from Fort Edward High School with the Class of 1974. He was employed by Pallets Inc. and Price Chopper.

Perley loved to draw and paint and would use any medium that he could find to create his works of art. He preferred to be outdoors and loved to stay busy. He loved spending time with his family and friends and spent many hours in his younger years fishing on the canal with his brother Lou. As he got older, he made many trips to his brother John’s house to visit. After John’s passing, John’s daughter Kay continued the tradition of having Perley visit. Most of all, Perley will be remembered for his selfless nature and his giving spirit. His kindhearted personality would light up the room and he always put others before himself. He will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Perley is predeceased by his brother John LaValley and his sister Linda Tougaw.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Lou LaValley and his wife Rose, his sister Beverly LaCross and her husband Gene, his sister Rosie Jordan and her husband Ernie, his brother-in-law Bob Tougaw, several nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, several cousins, and his friend from Rosewood, Paul and Paul’s sister Donna who befriended him during his stay there.

At Perley’s request there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward, NY.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Rosewood, especially Perley’s favorite nurse Shamika, for their care and compassion.
