Obituary for Brian G. Kristel

SOUTH GLENS FALLS
Brian G. Kristel, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 8, 1941, in Schenectady, he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Clancy) Kristel.

Brian graduated from Scotia Glenville High School in 1959. He then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts Education from SUNY Oswego in 1968.

For more than 30 years, Brian taught at Glens Falls Middle School as an Industrial Arts Teacher, retiring in 2001. He was also the Glens Falls Middle School Basketball and Football coach.

On June 18, 2016, Brian married his best friend and angel warrior, Joanne Synakowski, in Keeseville, NY.

Brian enjoyed traveling and cruising with family and friends. Sports was one of his many passions, he loved to coach and in his younger years, played basketball and baseball. He loved boating and was often called “The Captain” of the pontoon boat. Brian was active in the community Elks Club for many years, where he would volunteer his time helping children. There wasn’t anything that Brian couldn’t build or put together.

In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Ann (Renda) Kristel and his sister-in-law, Sharon Kristel.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Joanne; his children, Kyle Forlano (Rich); Kalyn Dukes (John); Kannan Kristel (Jamie); Kerith Kristel-Smith (Todd); Christopher Swiesz (Cathy); Andrew Bergeron (Charles); Robert Kristel (Katie); his grandchildren, Tyler, Kody, Kolin, Samantha “Samie”, Kristel, Elizabeth “Lizziy”, Clancy, AJay and Kylan; his brothers, Bruce Kristel, Brent Kristel (Lisa); his mother-in-law, Dorothy Synakowski; his brother-in-law, James Synakowski (Melinda); and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and many grand-dogs and grand-cats that he loved.

Friends may call from 2-5pm on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the funeral home with Sister Donna Irvine S.S. N.D. officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
