Nellie Allene (Knapp) Harrington, 86, joined her husband Carroll and family in heaven on Friday, September 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 23, 1931 in West Granville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ethel (Stoddard) Knapp.

Nellie graduated from Hartford Central School in 1948, and with her parents written permission, she married Carroll J. Harrington on November 25, 1948.

Nellie and Carroll moved to Granville in 1958 where they spent 59 years together until his passing in 2008.

Nellie waitressed at The White Rock Restaurant in South Granville for 8 years. She was also a store manager for Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Granville for many years. She also enjoyed attending many sporting events to watch her great-grandchildren play.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Nellie is predeceased by a daughter, Carol Allen, a great-grandson, Jared Edward, a son-in-law, William Noonan, brothers; Floyd (Harriet) Knapp, Harold (Rita) Knapp, Eugene Knapp, Ellison Knapp, Roy Knapp (MaryJo), and Basil Knapp, and sisters; Mae (Frank) Lee, Susie (Harry) Harrington, Marilyn (Frank) Parrish, and Audrey (Richard) Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Edward (Roseann) Harrington, Terry (Nancy) Harrington, Janelle (Phil) Clark, and Kelly Noonan, her grandchildren; Jason (Wendy) Harrington, Jeremy (Andrea), Harrington, Jordan (Mary) Harrington, Haley Harrington (best friend Danny Stewart), Luka (Nicole) Hurley, Jana (Russell) Wilson, Brent Bascom, Aileen Noonan, Aubrey Noonan, and Abigayle Noonan, her step-grandchildren; Kayla Noonan and Adam Clark, her great-grandchildren; Cailyn, Brandon and Raymond Harrington, Alyce and Joshua Harrington, Brayton and Brielle Hurley ,and Hailey and Reed Wilson, her sister-in-law Catherine Knapp, her brother-in law Armand (Karen) Harrington, as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Friends may call from 10-12pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Argyle, NY 12809.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12pm following the calling hours at the funeral home with Rev. Rick Backus officiating.

Burial will take place at Morningside Cemetery in Hartford, NY following the services.

Memorial donations in Nellie’s name can be made to the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital NICU at Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 in honor of her great-grandson Jared.

The family wished to extend a special thank you to everyone at Slate Valley Center for the care they gave Nellie. As she would have said, “I think it is not the end, but a new beginning for me.”
