Obituary for Jean Marie "Jeannie" Doin (Kindl)

Jean Marie "Jeannie" Doin (Kindl)
South Glens Falls

We are sorry to say our dear sweet wife, mother and grandmother, Jean Marie “Jeannie” Doin, 73, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Her family was gathered by her bedside at the Glens Falls Hospital, ICU, giving her and each other comfort. To deal with her death and to stem the tears, we think of all that Jeannie has given and shared with our family and friends; all a genuine reflection of her goodness and her humble greatness. She is a light shining bright in many eyes.

Jean was born on November 24, 1944, in Great Falls, Montana. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Catherine (Quinlan) Kindl.

She graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1962. After graduation, she received her Bachelor of Science of Education from Ohio Northern University in 1966.

On Dec. 17, 1966, Jean married Robert B. Doin Sr. at St. Helen’s Church in Niskayuna.

After moving to South Glens Falls in 1970, Jean was a devoted teacher to children for many years in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties. After teaching, she and her husband established Lake George Sailing Services out of Norwal Marina. Jean and Bob went on to open Pinetree Press in South Glens Falls for 18 years. Jean then worked at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, retiring in 2012.

Jean was a long time communicant of the St. Michael’s Church and served on the Parish Council. She was also a Literacy Volunteer of Glens Falls. She served as a member of the Moreau Rec Commission. For many years, Jean also delivered Meals on Wheels through the Moreau Community Center.

In addition to her passion of helping everyone around her, Jean enjoyed, with her many dear friends, playing Bridge, Mahjong, as well as participating in the water workouts at the YMCA. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, her young son Jeffrey M. Doin, and her infant brother Michael Kindl.

Left to cherish her memory includes her husband of 51 years, Robert Doin; her children, Kimarie “Kim” A. White and her husband, Robert; Robert “Rob” B. Doin Jr. and his wife, Tina; her grandchildren, Jeffrey White and his wife, Ceaira, Ryan White and Ellen Lowndes, Ian Doin and Aberlyn “Abby” Doin; her sisters, Rosemary Harrigan and her husband, Joseph, Ellen Kindl and her husband, Hart, Patrice Kindl and her husband, Paul; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 7pm on Friday, September 21, 2018, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to extend an invitation to those who have been a part of Jean’s or her families’ lives to a Celebration of Jeannie from 1 to 4pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Downtown Social, 190 Glen St, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Memorial donations in Jean’s memory can be made to the Moreau Community Center, 144 Main St., South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
