Shirley Mae Benson, 90, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Washington Center Nursing Home.
Born on August 9, 1928, in North Adams, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Grace Harvey.
On September 28, 1946, Shirley married Francis R. Benson in Standford, VT after he was honorably discharged from the United States Army. They spent 58 years together until his passing in October in 2004.
Shirley’s greatest pride and joy was raising her children and taking care of her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed Sunday Dinner with the whole family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, William Harvey.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Dennis Benson and his wife, Shirley J. Benson, Kim Ward and her husband, Jeffrey, Lisa Ekroos and her husband, Joe; her grandchildren, Terry Benson, Jacob Benson and his wife, Mandy, Kyle Ketcham, Ashley Butler and her husband, Paul and Zackary Ward; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zoey, Brandon and Alyona Benson, Paulie, Rhyan, Gavin and Alexander Butler; her siblings, Ginny Lewis, Martha Hanna and her husband, Bill and Mary Harvey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Shirley’s request there will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:30am on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.
Burial will follow the Funeral Service at 1:00pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
