It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Kenny” Varney, 75, announce that he passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born October 3, 1942 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Lillian and Howard Norman.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

On November 23, 1963, Robert married Wilma Keller in Charleston, South Carolina.

Robert was employed by Hercules/Ciba-Geigy for over 22 years. He also worked for Anthem Heating and Cooling as well as General Electric.

Robert was a family man who loved tending to his vegetable garden and caring for all the pets who were special to him over the years. He also loved music and played the guitar and mandolin.

In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Varney and John Varney.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Wilma Varney, his daughters, Julie Mattison and her husband Michael, and Kathy Butts and her husband John, his grandsons, Nicolas Mattison and his wife Erin, and Evan Butts, his great-granddaughter Glencora Mattison, his brother Floyd Varney, and his sister-in-law Patricia Varney.

At Robert’s request there will be no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
