Obituary for John M. "Jackie" Nolan

Murrells Inlet, SC and South Glens Falls

John M. “Jackie” Nolan, 60, of Murrells Inlet, SC and formerly of South Glens Falls, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 16, 2018.

Born on December 9, 1957, in South Glens Falls, the son of the late John C. Nolan and Jeanette A. Nolan currently of South Glens Falls.

He proudly served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, retiring with over 20 years of service and actively campaigned for all veterans and supported their causes.

John loved to fish, especially at his camp on Loon Lake; golf, gamble at casinos and go on cruises. He had a zest for life, was always “ready, let’s go!”, and had a great sense of humor, as all who knew John would tell you. He was a very personable and caring man, always thinking about others and quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was an avid NY Yankees fan, but his true love was the Green Bay Packers. He was not only their biggest fan, but a part owner as well.

John was predeceased by his father, John C. Nolan, bother, Joseph D. Nolan and his wife of 36 years, Kathleen “Kate” Nolan.

Left to cherish his memory are his “Mommy”, Jeanette Nolan of South Glens Falls, the pride and joys of his life; his sons, Sean M. Nolan and Dennis P. Nolan of Murrells Inlet, SC, his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Melvin Ogden of South Glens Falls, his sister (and best friend), Deborah Nolan and her fiancé, William Jennings of Queensbury, his sister-in-law, JoAnn Cummings of South Glens Falls, as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a vast number of friends worldwide.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Beach Chapel of Goldfinch Funeral Home, 11528 Highway 17 Bypass, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
