Obituary for Salvatore J. "Petetoo" Leonbruno Jr.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Salvatore J. Leonbruno Jr. (Petetoo), 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018, at Glens Falls Hospital with his family by his side.

Born on September 17, 1929, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Dorothy (Prevost) Leonbruno Sr.

He was a graduate of Whitehall High School, he then enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Korean War. Salvatore worked at Ciba Geigy for 37 years until retirement.

Salvatore married Erika Mabel Jurgens on Feb. 24, 1951. They spent 58 years together until her passing in 2009.

He enjoyed horse racing, NY Yankees, NY Giants and spending winters in Florida with his wife until her passing. Salvatore’s greatest love was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Salvatore was predeceased by his siblings Theodore (Ted), Thomas and Frank Leonbruno, Marion Noonan and Dorothy Caverly.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Peter Leonbruno; his two sons, Michael P. Leonbruno and his wife, Laurie, of Queensbury and Terrence (Terry) T. Leonbruno of Saratoga; two daughters, Michelle E. Bombard of Hudson Falls and Ingrid T. Guay of Queensbury; five grandchildren: Michael Leonbruno, Lisa Higley and her husband, Andrew, Jessica Mattson and her husband Justin, Jennifer Bombard and her companion, Patrick Slack, and Seth Guay; six great-grandchildren, Kaydence and Cameron Mattson, Grayson and Charleigh Leonbruno, Ryan and Ava Higley; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 6pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Memorial Service will take place following calling hours at 6pm with Sister Donna M. Irvine S.S.N.D., Chaplin at Glens Falls Hospital, officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Salvatore’s memory can be made to the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad, 105 Main St., Queensbury, NY 12804 or to a charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to his special friends, Kathy Peltz, Bruce Baker, Betty and Chuck Anderson, Tony Spizzo and Jackie Russo. They would also like to thank all the wonderful providers at Glens Falls Hospital and Hudson Headwaters for their care to Salvatore.
