Obituary for John William "Jack" Bahr

Fort Edward

John “Jack” William Bahr, 91, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home after a short illness.

Born in Hudson Falls on April 26, 1927, he was the son of the late William and Jeannette (McDonald) Bahr.

Jack was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WW2 and the Korea conflict. He retired from Scott Paper Co in Fort Edward, was a member of the Fort Edward American Legion Post #1133 and Honor Guard at the National Cemetery. He volunteered his time to many organizations throughout the area including the South Glens Falls Little League. Jack was a great family man who enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family will enjoy his written lists of his quotable limericks.

Besides his parents, Jack is predeceased by his wife Barbara Bahr and a son, Alan Bahr.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Tom Bahr of South Glens Falls, daughter, Connie Marchetti and husband Peter of Pound Ridge, step-daughter, Pam Cypher of Stillwater, step-daughter, Nancy Cahill and husband Tim of Greenwich, grandchildren, Kara Leigh Charron and husband Nelson, Jodie McGough and husband Ryan, Josh (Ann Marie) Marchetti, Zach Marchetti & wife Alicia, Olivia (Erick) Marchetti, Eric Bahr, Nick Bahr, Ben Bahr, and Ashley Bahr; his brothers, Bruce Bahr, Newt Bahr, Ron Bahr; his sister, Mary Greenough, and several great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Jacks request, there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.

Donation’s in Jacks memory may be made to the Fort Edward American Legion Post #1133, 44 McCrea Street, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
