Obituary for Barbara Frances Bahr (Smith)

FORT EDWARD

Barbara (Smith) Bahr, 88, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2018 at the Saratoga Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born August 29, 1929 in Northumberland, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Dickenson) Smith.

Barbara graduated from Saratoga High School and worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone for many years.

On February 15, 1947, she married Frank Kubish in Saratoga Springs, and together they raised their family until his passing on March 12, 1999.

On April 21, 2016, Barbara married John “Jack” Bahr, a childhood friend, and they enjoyed a peaceful life on the river with their pets, Murphy, Callie, Skyler, and Sammie. She was a member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge 2223, as well as their Auxiliary. Barbara also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Barbara was predeceased by her brothers, Walter Smith and Wayne Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Jack Bahr, her daughters, Nancy Cahill (Tim), and Pamela Cypher, her step-son Tom Bahr, her step-daughter, Connie Marchetti (Peter), her grandchildren; Sharleen Eakins (Will), Benjamin Cahill (Elizabeth), and Shawn Cypher, her step-grandchildren; Olivia Marchetti, Zack Marchetti, and Josh Marchetti, her great-grandchildren; Maude, Liam, Audrey, Jane, Vera, Matthew, Katherine, Peter, Victoria, and Kennedy Lynne, as well as her sisters-in-law, Marie Smith, Barbara Smith, and Jenny Ebert.

At Barbara’s request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10am on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY.

Memorial donations in Barbara’s name can be made to the Elk’s National Fund, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave. Chicago, IL 60614-2256.
