Kathleen “Kate” Sweet, 58, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at her home with her family by her side.
Born on October 11, 1959, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Halsey and Frances (Buckley) Hay.
Kathleen was a 1977 graduate of Fort Edward High School. After high school she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at the College of Saint Rose and she also attended Maria College in Albany. For many years Kathleen worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at BOCES, the Stanton Nursing Home and most recently Abraham Wing School.
On Sept. 8, 1990, Kathleen married, Keith Sweet at St. Mary’s Church Glens Falls by her uncle, Rev. Robert Buckley, officiating.
She enjoyed gardening, boating, camping, riding her bike and the ocean in Massachusetts. Kathleen enjoyed teaching exercise at Gay Congdon Fitness Firm and the YMCA.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her uncle, Rev. Robert Buckley.
Left to cherish her memory includes her husband, Keith; her sister, Eileen Cutler and her daughter, Erin; her special great-nieces, Rheanna and Avery; her brother, Geoffrey Hay and his wife, Nancy and their children, Matthew, Joshua, Ryan, and Mary Frances; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 11am to 12pm on Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
Funeral Mass will be conducted at 12pm following the calling hour at St. Michael the Archangel Church with the Rev. Guy A. Childs, officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
