Clara Mae Schenk (Ricketts)
SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Clara Mae (Ricketts) Schenk, 79, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at her home.

Born August 28, 1938 in Granville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lillian (Riley) Ricketts.

On May 4, 1958, she married the love of her life, Anthony Schenk in St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls, and together they raised their children for 52 years until his passing in 2010.

Clara owned and operated Clara’s Thrift Shop for 30 years (changing the name to T.C. Emporium and Books). She was a Den Mother and Webelos leader for St. Michael’s Cub Scout pack 102. Clara loved watching game and quiz shows as well as crime programs. She loved listening to country music. She collected lighthouse memorabilia as well. Most importantly, Clara loved spending time with her family, especially at Christmas, which was her favorite time of the year.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Clara is predeceased by her brother, Eugene Ricketts.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Roland Schenk (Jeannie), Anthony Schenk Jr. (Robin), Laurie Smith (Dewey), Mary Schenk, Heidi Schenk (James Archer), Melissa Schenk, and Sandra Schenk ( Ken Kendall), her grandchildren; Roland Schenk II, Christina Woodward LeBlanc, Alicia Roden, Heather Morris, Jeffrey Schenk, Paul Aldrich, Amber Schenk, Adam Porlier, Matthew Loomis, Allen Loomis, Ryan Normile, Brianna Williams, Joshua Griffen, Blake Antal, Conor Keating, Cole Wilson, Tyler Schenk, and Kiana Taylor, her brothers, Steven Gauci, and John Gauci, her best friend Sandra Gagnon, as well as many great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-7pm on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7pm following calling hours with Rev. Guy A. Childs of St. Michael the Archangel Church officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
