Robert A. Rabe
April 22, 1927 - May 2, 2018

MOREAU - Robert A. Rabe of the Town of Moreau passed away at his home. Bob was born in Queens, NY, to Gertrude and William Rabe. After serving in the US Naval Air Force he studied at The Academy of Advanced Traffic to become a Certified Traffic Manager. He managed a moving and storage company in Queens, NY, for 20 years. In 1970 he and his wife, Audrey, purchased a small moving company and moved to South Glens Falls. In 1985 when Dewey’s Van Service was sold it was a Top Quality North American Van Lines Agency.

While living on Long Island, Bob was an active church member, Sunday School teacher, ordained Elder, and star catcher on the church softball team. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls where he was an ordained Elder, Deacon, and Trustee, as well as serving on many committees.

A member of the F. & A. M. of the State of New York, RAM #325, and Scottish Rite, NMJ, Bob served as Master of Senate Lodge 456 and Queensbury Lodge 121. He will be remembered for playing Santa Claus at the Prospect School.

For several years Bob served on the Board of Governors of the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Springfield, MA, and was an Ill. Past Potentate of Oriental Shrine Temple, Troy, NY. He was a founding member of the Keystone Kops Parade unit.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved daughter Claudia, two sisters, a brother, a niece, and two nephews.

Rejoicing in a life well lived are his wife of nearly seventy years Audrey, his devoted daughter Melissa, and his nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was a compassionate man of principle, who enjoyed life, and who loved golf.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 19, at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, 400 Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY.
