Obituary for William Maurice Delaware

William M. Delaware passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018 at the Glens Falls Hospital after an extended illness with his daughter by his side.
Bill was born on December 22, 1935 in South Portland, Maine, the son of the late Leona (Sutherland) and Harry Delaware. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1954. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at The University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a certificate in Pulp and Paper Management.
Bill began his engineering career in the Pulp and Paper Industry with International Paper in Glens Falls. He then joined the staff of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany in 1970, retiring in 2000. Throughout his career, Bill was active in several professional organizations including the Jaycees, TAPPI (Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Institute) and the AWMA (Air and Waste Management Association) of Northeast New York.
Bill was a devoted husband who was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Victoria (Jacobs) Delaware, who passed away on January 21, 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Anne Bishop, and her husband, Bill, of Queensbury. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Anna Cottrell of Queensbury, Barbara Crotty (Allen) of Queensbury, Beatrice Salem of Hudson Falls and a brother-in-law, George Jacobs (Patricia) of Glens Falls.
He is also survived by many special and nephews including Patricia Zacharias (Kenneth), Mary Salem (Kevin Godfrey) and Karen Nassivera (Frank) as well as great nieces and nephews, Lynne Marie Godfrey, Olivia Nassivera, Franky Nassivera and Dominic Nassivera, all of Queensbury.
Bill’s family would like to thank the staff of the Glens Falls Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for their loving care during the past three years; especially Pat, Stacey, Cookie, Rachel, Meredith and Lacey .
Funeral and burial services were held privately at the convenience of the family, per Bill’s request.
Arrangements were in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
