Obituary for Scott

Scott
ARGYLE

Donald Scott Nichols, 73 passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital due to complications with his ongoing illness.

Born February 20, 1945 in Glens Falls,NY he was the son of the late Donald Charles Nichols and Jean (Rosbrook) Nichols.

Scott was a proud lifelong resident of Argyle, NY., graduating high school in 1963 and going on to serve in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal and being honorably discharged in 1969.

Scott lived his life as he wished, often to the beat of his own drum. He had a passion for his family’s genealogy and history of Washington County. For many years Scott worked at the Stewarts Plant and retired there early. Most mornings you would still find him at the local Stewarts enjoying his paper, coffee and visits with his coffee friends. Scott also was an avid blogger on the L.A.Times Crossword Corner. He covered 840 puzzles for the blog. He also made seven puzzles for the L.A. Times and two puzzles for the New York Times. He will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Scott was predeceased by his older sister Patricia Nichols Smith.

Survivors include his sisters; Claire Driscoll, Sheila Hoover, Kalista Nichols Bloch (Peter) and Laura Nichols Manitta (Phil) as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also had many cousins whom he enjoyed keeping in touch with and seeing at the family reunion every year, especially his very close cousins Merle and Doris Nichols. He also leaves his special adopted family, Jennifer and David Ballard and their two girls whom he loved, Jolene and Violet, as well as many friends whom were especially dear to him.

Friends may call from 2-5pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Argyle Fire Department, 5072 NY-40, Argyle, NY 12809 for a Celebration of Scott’s Life. Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.
