Fort Edward
Walter R. Mylott Sr., 89, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glens Falls on May 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Walter R. Mylott and Emma (Ferguson) Stewart and her husband, Howard.
Walt graduated from Fort Edward High School and received his associates degree from Albany Business College. He was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1946 to 1950, two of which years he served in China. Walt served in the Navy Reserves for 38 years, retiring in 1988.
On June 1, 1952, Walt married Patricia M. Caputo in St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward by the Rev. Kenneth Doyle. She passed away on September 11, 2004.
He was employed at Fairhome Farms, Maplewood Dairy, and was a corrections officer at Sing Sing, Comstock and Mt McGregor for 31 years.
Walt was PUFL Member of the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574 and Lifetime Charter Member of the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. For many, many years, Walt played the best Santa Claus around.
Besides his parents and wife, Walt is also predeceased by his siblings, Robert Mylott, William Mylott, Alice Chakalis, and Shirley Moss.
Left to cherish his memories include his children, Kevan Mylott (Cathy), Walter R. Mylott Jr. (Peggy), Lucinda Potvin, Michael Mylott (Sherry), Christina Jones (Jeff), Stephen Mylott (Colleen); his grandchildren, Ryan Mylott (Rachel), Nicole Morency (Pat), Alicia Mylott (Al), Annette Plewniak (Jeremy), Lynette Cameron, Matthew Mylott (Kayla), Eric Mylott (Renée), Nicolas Mylott (Tammy), and Jessica Mylott (Randy); his step-brother, Ronald Stewart; his step-grandchildren, David Jones (Kim), Nicole Jones (DJ), Adam Jones (Jorien); along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rite of Committal will follow the Funeral Mass at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward
