Corinth

Gordon W. “Gordy”, “Jonesy” and “old dog” Jones, 88 of Corinth passed away peacefully Friday January 6, 2018 at the “Glens Falls Center” formerly known as “The Stanton” surrounded by his loving family.

Gordon was born October 17, 1929 in East Hartford at his family's home. Gordon was the eldest son of Floyd and Grace Waller Jones.

Gordon was a graduate of Hartford Central School. following his graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served during Korean Conflict. Gordon retired from International Paper Company Co. of Corinth. He kept busy with his hobbies including building and remodeled homes and was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting with his sons, Mike “Big Dog” Dewey and friends on various hunting trips up until a suffered a stroke in 2017. He enjoyed spending days with man’s best friend, Gunner.

In addition to his parents Gordon was predeceased by his brothers Richard” Dick” Jones, Gerald “Pete” Jones and their wives, Audrey and Dottie Jones, his longtime companion, Mary Eddy as well as his infant son Michael.

Left to cherish his memory include his brother Brian (Christine) Jones of Hartord; his children, Kathy Gage (Richard) of Hartford, Lori Peterson, & her former husband Scott of Alburgh, Vt.; Gary (Lynne) Jones of Hartford, Randy (Laura) Jones of Argyle; his eight grandchildren, Amy Jones, Jeremy & Christopher Cary, Hope and Nicholas Peterson, Jacob & Tracy Ashe and Breanne Rider; his 7 great-grandchildren, Riley Cary ,Catherine Cary, Brandon & Jaclyn Gu, Jacob, Logan and Quinn Ashe; several nieces, nephews their children and his cousin Kay Edwards.

Gordon leaves behind several friends who will greatly miss his smile, sense of humor and his companionship. Kenny, Bob, Mike, Ernie, Buddy and George just to name a few.

The family cordially invite family and friends to join them in a celebration of Dad’s life on Saturday January 13th at 2 p.m. at the Hartford Volunteer Fire Company, Rte. 40 Hartford. Please bring a dish to pass and share the many fond memories and good times. As Gordy would always say “let's go to the hut”.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Morningside Cemetery, Hartford.

The family would like to say thank you to everyone who looked in on Dad while he lived in Corinth over the years and during his short stay at the Stanton especially the south wing staff & the front desk receptionists. We would also like to say a special thank you to his roommate, Mike for all the kindness he extended to Gordy.
