Obituary for Irene "ChaCha" Flanders (Jablonski)

Argyle

Irene “ChaCha” Flanders, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Rochester.

Born March 13, 1921 in New York City, she was the daughter of Dominick and Blanche Jablonski.

Irene graduated from Argyle Central School, class of 1939. On Feb. 7, 1946, she married the love of her life, Phil Flanders. Phil passed away on September 11, 2002. Irene started her working career at Argyle School, but most knew her as the bank teller at the Argyle Bank. She was 59-year cancer survivor and her treatment was instrumental in paving he way for future cancer research. She always enjoyed visits with family and friends and share her many stories about life’s adventures, of which there were many. Irene loved crocheting doilies, blankets and snow flake decorations with some of her doilies traveling to other states and countries through various people that she met.

Besides her parents and husband, Irene was also predeceased by her brother Ed.

Left the cherish her memory include her son Brian (Susan), her grandson Greg (Becky) all of Rochester, her daughter-in-law, Sue from Oregon; her nephews, Kevin (Karen), Jay (Pam) and Tom (Peg), her niece, Lynn (Steve) as well as many grand and great grand nephews and nieces and other loving relations that she considered as her “Kids” and would always have hugs and kisses for all.

Irene donated her body to medical research.

Family and friends may call from 12 noon to 2pm on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at the Argyle American Legion, Post 1518, County Rt. 47, Argyle, NY, followed by a memorial services at 2pm.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Argyle American Legion Post 1518, 7 County Rt. 47, Argyle, NY 12809 or to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
