Obituary for George C. Frost
SOUTH GLENS FALLS
George C. Frost, 89, went into the arms of the Lord after a long illness on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Stanton Nursing Home.
Born on January 25, 1928 in Stoughton, Massachusetts he was the son of the late, George Henry and Selma (Botsch) Frost.
George graduated from Stoughton High School in 1945. He graduated with honors and a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Northeastern University in 1950; where he was elected to Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Honor Society.
On May 24, 1952 George married Beatrice McDermott at St. John’s Church in Canton, Massachusetts.
In his earlier employment as Assistant Plant Engineer, before and after two years of U.S. Army Signal Corps service during the Korean War, was with Imperial Paper & Color Corporation of Glens Falls. Since 1960; he had been a senior principal and retired on Dec. 31, 1995 as Chairman and CEO of the consulting engineering firm of Rist-Frost Associates, PC located in Glens Falls. He was appointed by Governor George Pataki in 1996 to serve as a member of the NYS Employment Relations Board a position he retired from in Dec. 2006.
He was a licensed professional engineer in several states and a retired member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Consulting Engineers Council and several engineering technical societies. George won several awards for innovative engineering designs.
George had served as President of the South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education from 1962 to 1968. He was also a 78 year veteran of the Boy Scouts of America. He had also been a member of the South Glens Falls Rotary Club for 59 years and was President in 1959-60 and 2016-17. George was very proud of his perfect attendance in the Rotary Club. He served Rotary International as District Governor in 1970-71. He was also a Director Emeritus of Arrow Financial Corporation and the Glens Falls National Bank & Trust Company for many years. He was a past president of the Glens Falls Country Club and was an avid golfer.
He was the 1989 recipient of the Mohican Council Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award, the 1991 Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award, the 1995 Hospital Trustees of New York State Trustee of the Year Award, and the 1997 American Consulting Engineers Council Community Service Award. He was also the recipient of the Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award and the Rotary International Service Above Self Award.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in South Glens Falls, NY where he served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. George was a member of Rev. Robert A. Nugent Council 11160 Knights of Columbus where he was a Past Grand Knight.
In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his brother, William Frost.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years; his children, Richard Frost of So. Glens Falls, David Frost of Warrensburg, Nancy DeAngelis and her husband, John of Wynantskill, Cindy Frost of Sarasota, FL and Patricia Wrobel and her husband, Kerry of Whitehall; his grandchildren, John DeAngelis, Kasandra DeAngelis, Timothy Whittemore, Abby Wills and Amy Whittemore; his sister, Rosemary Frost of Stoughton, MA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, NY 12803 with Rev Guy A. Childs, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
