John “Ike” Alexander Copeland, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on June 22, 1926 in Fort Edward he was the son of the late John and Olive (Saunders) Copeland.
Ike married Audrey Middleton who passed in 1970 later marrying Yvonne E. Richards on May 25, 1986 by Rev. Lawrence Larson in Hudson Falls. They were married until her passing on May 25, 1994.
He was a member of the Argyle Presbyterian Church.
Ike retired from Hercules/Ciba Geigy in 1985 after 40 years of service as a forklift driver.
He enjoyed visiting with his family and many friends, trips to Turning Stone Casino and Saratoga Racino. For many years following his retirement, Ike liked to joke that he enjoyed going to his “second job” at the My Place Tavern in South Glens Falls. He was very proud of his “perfect attendance” and never missed a day of work.
In addition to his parents and his wives, Ike is predeceased by his brother William Copeland and sister-in-laws, Constance Copeland and Jane Copeland.
Left to cherish his memory include his son, David Copeland and his wife Tara of Queensbury; his daughter, Sandra Copeland-Johnson of Queensbury; brother, Coolidge Copeland of Argyle; grandsons Joseph Elmore, Timothy Elmore, Joshua Copeland and Justin Copeland; granddaughter, Brooklyn Copeland; great grandchildren, Brenden, Jimmy and Hayleigh Elmore; a special friend, Meaghan; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins
Friends may call from 11a.m. to 1p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St. Argyle, NY 12809.
Services will be held following the calling hours at 1p.m. on Saturday July 1, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen McLean officiating.
Burial will follow the service at North Argyle Cemetery Rt. 40 Argyle, NY.
