Obituary for Paul A Linehan

Paul A Linehan
South Glens Falls

Paul A. Linehan, 88, of 49 Ferry Blvd., South Glens Falls entered into the arms of Jesus on November 26, 2016 surrounded by his family he passed from his own beloved home where he has resided for the past 65 years.

Born December 9, 1927, he was the son of the late Katherine Hoey Linehan and Daniel J. Linehan of Glens Falls and was the widower of Luella Taft Linehan.

Following his graduation from Glens Falls High School in 1947, he was employed at Barber's Market, the NY Telephone Co. and later for the Prudential Insurance Company. After deciding that sales was not his specialty he became a master-bricklayer and helped to build many schools, hospitals and homes in the region. Paul was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local No. 2. He also proudly served a tour-of-duty with the New York State National Guard.

As was his wife, Paul was very civic-minded. However, unlike his wife - a Republican - he was a registered Democrat. Never getting primary votes from his wife he ably persevered in local politics and in 1964 was elected South Glens Falls Village Trustee as a Democrat.

Without a trace of a smile, he gave out “one-liners of wisdom” to his children and grandchildren that will continue to be remembered. His children fondly remember his humble tactics of showing-off his latest residential bricklaying job to his wife and family. His routes home where well planned and always by way of alternate neighborhoods so that Luella would be content with her own. Memories of him as host at his river road camp-site - his home away from home - will also be cherished.

Paul was predeceased by an infant daughter, Amy Eileen; his brother Dan Linehan, a sister, Jane Linehan Broderick, and his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Luella Linehan. He leaves behind four sons, David Linehan and his wife Marcia, Daniel Linehan and his wife Marie, Michael Linehan, and Andrew Linehan and his wife Sarah. He also leaves behind two daughters, Christine Roberts and Elizabeth Jones. Also left to cherish his memory are thirteen grand-children and seven great grandchildren; Timothy and Rachel Linehan, Scott Paul Roberts and his wife

Erin with their children Nathan, Jenna, Claire and Sadie; Jonathan Roberts and his wife Christie with their children Sienna, Luke and Michael; Erin Barrett and her husband Dan, Corie Linehan, Meghan Linehan; Patrick, James and Thomas Linehan and also Alexander, Emma and Madilyn Jones plus, many nieces and nephews.

At Paul's request, the family will receive family and friends from 10-11 am on Saturday December 10, 20169, one hour before a Celebration of Life 11 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South. Glens Falls, NY, 12803 with the Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating.

A Rite of Committal will be held following Mass.

Memorial donations in Paul’s memory can be made to The St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis TN, 38105, and The Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern NY Chapter, Pine West Plaza Building 4, suite 405, Washington Ave, Ext, Albany NY,12205, or a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. To leave online condolences or to view Paul’s Book of Memories, please visit kilmerfuneralhome.com.
