Obituary for Margaret M. "Maggi" Usher (Sheeran)

Margaret M. "Maggi"  Usher (Sheeran)

Margaret (Sheeran) Usher, 85, went into the arms of the Lord peacefully on October 9, 2016 with her loving family at her side.

Born on October 11, 1930 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late, Edward J. and Nora (Lansing) Sheeran.

She resided in Glens Falls and attended St. Mary’s Academy, graduating in the class of 1948. After high school she entered St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with her RN, in the class of 1952.

Maggi met and married Robert J. Usher in 1954 at St. Mary’s Church and they resided in South Glens Falls. Maggi worked at the Glens Falls Hospital for 20 years as a surgical staff RN in the OR and Day Surgery Unit. She retired in 1993.

She was a life -long member of St. Michael’s the Archangel Church as well as a member of the choir for many years and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a volunteer at the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center, The Hyde Museum, The American Red Cross, the YMCA and the Adirondack Theatre Festival.

Maggi enjoyed extensive travel in the U.S. and abroad. She enjoyed playing bridge, swimming, her outings with the Golden Girls and her monthly birthday lunches. She genuinely enjoyed her time with friends and family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Usher, her first son Robert J. Usher Jr., her second son, Robert E. Usher, her twin great granddaughters, Mackenzie and Sydney Lord and her sister, Anne Mazanek.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel J. Usher of Saratoga; Maureen U. Linehan, of South Glens Falls, Michael P. Usher, of South Glens Falls and David A. Usher, of Lake George; her grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony and Sarah Usher, of South Glens Falls, Meghan Linehan, of South Glens Falls and Kristin Usher Lord of Pennsylvania; one great granddaughter, Madelyn Lord and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery South Glens Falls following the Funeral Mass.
