Leita Marie (Barton) Jones, 78 years old, of Fort Edward, NY, passed away peacefully June 19, 2015 at Albany Medical Center. Leita has gone home to rest in the eternal arms of The Lord Jesus.
Leita was born on October 31, 1936 in Hodgdon, Maine, the daughter of the late Miles and Ethel (Whitney) Barton.

She graduated from Houlton High School, the class of 1955. Leita & Gordon Jones started dating April 1952, while attending Houlton High School. Leita & Gordon knew marriage to each other was their eternal destiny, but waited until each had completed their education before marrying. It was a love affair for the ages, one that has never stopped. They were wed on October 22, 1955. She devoted her life as a loving wife, homemaker, and the mother of four precious children.
After their marriage, Leita worked as a waitress and Gordon as a bookkeeper for DG Miller Construction Co. They both loved their hometown, but did not want to be potato farmers in Houlton, Maine. They left all they held dear to find employment for Gordon so Leita could stay at home to raise their family. In September 1956, with the unknown future ahead they set sail. Leita’s older sister lived in Manchester, Vermont and became influential in settling them in the Glens Falls, NY. Leita and Gordon knew their Lord & Savior Jesus Christ would bless their marriage & provide abundantly for their family, and He has, Amen.
Leita’s enjoyments in life included gardening, family gatherings and the Holidays, where we enjoyed her fine baking skills passed on from her mother. She always enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Leia was predeceased by her brother, Richard Allen Barton, and two sisters, Roberta (Barton) Gleason Campbell, and Amanda (Barton) Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Marjorie (Barton) Stewart, her loving husband of 60 years, Gordon G. Jones Sr., four children, Gordon (Jerry) Jones Jr., Bette Jones, Linda Marie (Jones) Joseph and her husband John, Michael Allen Jones and his wife Angela, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews here in New York and Houlton, Maine.
